PAST EVENTS (2021-2024)

2021: Inaugural Apollo Golf Outing (Aug. 27, 2021)

On Friday, August 27, 2021, the Apollo Homelessness Collaborative hosted its inaugural charity golf outing at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club in Rising Sun, Maryland. With 52 golfers on the course and 16 guests joining for dinner, the day raised $10,000 to support Health Care for the Homeless, People Encouraging People, and St. Luke’s Church on the Avenue—three Baltimore organizations working every day to help people move from instability to stability. Throughout a very hot afternoon, teammates kept the mood light—catching up between tee shots and around the carts. After play, the group gathered for dinner, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle, before hearing remarks from Mike McShea and guests who helped connect the day’s fun to its purpose.

2022: Second Annual Apollo Golf Outing (Aug. 12, 2022)

The Apollo Homelessness Collaborative returned to Chesapeake Bay Golf Club on Friday, August 12, 2022 for its second annual charity golf outing—growing the event’s reach and its impact. Golfers checked in for a shotgun start, supported by volunteers who kept the day running smoothly from the very first tee time. By day’s end, 56 golfers and 35 dinner guests (91 total) helped raise $15,000 for three Baltimore partners: Health Care for the Homeless, People Encouraging People, and St. Luke’s Church on the Avenue. The evening program included dinner, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and awards—bringing everyone together around a shared commitment to practical, local support for people experiencing homelessness.

2023: Third Annual Apollo Golf Outing (Aug. 18, 2023)

On Friday, August 18, 2023, the Apollo Homelessness Collaborative returned to Chesapeake Bay Golf Club for its third annual charity golf outing—continuing a tradition that combines a great day on the course with direct support for trusted community partners. With 45 golfers and 39 dinner attendees (84 total), the event raised $16,000 for Health Care for the Homeless, People Encouraging People, St. Luke’s Church on the Avenue, and—new in 2023—the Franciscan Center of Baltimore. The day flowed from registration and tee-off to an evening gathering featuring dinner, guest remarks, and awards, with music provided by Sam Wiley and family. Returning sponsors helped make the raffle and auction possible, keeping the focus where it belongs: meaningful local impact.

2024: Giving Tuesday Campaign (Nov. 27–Dec. 4, 2024)

From November 27 through December 4, 2024, the Apollo Homelessness Collaborative marked Giving Tuesday with a weeklong campaign that raised $13,500 for partner organizations serving people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Donors could direct their gifts to specific, practical services—making it easy to connect generosity to real-world needs. Supporters of Health Care for the Homeless chose to fund items and care such as bus tickets, hygiene kits, meals, dental services, or comprehensive services for clients. Donors to People Encouraging People helped provide sleeping bags and warm clothing for outreach and daily living. Gifts to the Franciscan Center of Baltimore could be dedicated to eviction protection services, bridge shelter, or documentation support, while supporters of St. Luke’s Church on the Avenue funded vouchers for the church’s thrift shop. Together, these targeted gifts helped ensure help could be delivered quickly—and in the ways people need most.
